Trusted data

Data your team can defend in a meeting.

Most analytics tools ask you to trust a number the AI wrote. Sluice does the opposite: the AI only plans the model, deterministic code writes every query, you approve the plan, and every KPI traces back to the raw source.

What “trusted data” actually means here

“Trusted” is an overused word in analytics. In Sluice it has a precise, testable definition — four guarantees that hold for every number on your dashboard:

Why AI-written SQL isn’t trustworthy

When an AI writes the query directly, two identical questions can produce two different queries — and neither is reproducible or auditable. That’s fine for casual exploration, but it’s not something you can put in a board deck, a compliance report, or a customer invoice. Sluice keeps the AI on the planning side of the line and lets deterministic code own the execution side. You get the speed of AI with the accountability of engineered pipelines.

How a trusted answer is built

question ─▶ AI plans a structured KPI (metrics, joins — never SQL) ─▶ you approve the plan (readable, versioned) ─▶ deterministic compiler writes the SQL ─▶ runs on governed Silver (PII masked, in your cloud) ─▶ every number reconciles to the raw source

Where this matters most

Trusted data is not a nice-to-have when the number carries money or risk: freight and GST audits, financial KPIs, regulated reporting, and any figure a customer or auditor might challenge. If you can’t trace it to source, you can’t defend it. Sluice is built so you always can.

Frequently asked

Does the AI write the SQL?
No. The AI only produces a structured plan. A deterministic compiler writes every query, so answers are reproducible and auditable — not a black box.
Can I trace a KPI back to the raw data?
Yes — that’s the point. Every number aggregates raw rows you can inspect, and the total reconciles to the source sum.
Where does my data live?
In your own cloud. Sluice can build the governed model directly in your warehouse or bucket, with PII masked in place.
